ID—Validations / Replacements
Validation Requirements
- Students must register for the upcoming semester in order to get their ID validated. Your Brooklyn College Digital ID is automatically validated.
Lost ID Cards
- Anyone who loses their ID card (except tenured faculty) must pay a $10 fee (cash, check, or money order) for a new card.
- Students who lose their most recent ID card and find their initial ID to validate will have the card confiscated and will be charged a $10 fee for a new ID.
- Students who have been out of school for less than a year and have not yet graduated but would like to come back are required to pay a fee if they lost their ID card. Those who ask for a waiver will be referred to the Office of Campus and Community Safety Services, 0202 Ingersoll Hall.
- Students who are out of school for more than two years and decide to come back to complete their degree are not required to pay for a new ID card if they lost the one they had prior.
- After a student’s fifth new ID card, he or she will be sent to the Office of Campus and Community Safety Services to get authorization for the issue of another card. A representative will check to see if a student received an ID card more than five times by checking the number of card distributions in the system.
- Students who lost their validation sticker twice within the same semester must report to the Office of Campus and Community Safety Services to get an approval for another validation sticker. This also applies to anyone employed by Brooklyn College as a temp.
Digital ID
Students, staff, and faculty can access their BC ID from their phone or tablet using the BC Navigator app (both Android and IOS supported).
While the legacy plastic ID card can still be used as long as it is validated for the current term, the BC Digital ID is electronically kept up to date and never needs to be re-validated.
Note: At this time, the athletics recreation facilities still require the legacy plastic ID cards.
